The Muslim Archive (MA) strives for a broader and better understanding of the history and present of Dutch Muslims and an enrichment of the collective memory of the Netherlands. As a result, Dutch Muslims will feel more seen, appreciated, and acknowledged with all their identities. Dutch people, regardless of their background, will become more aware of the (centuries-old) pluralism of Dutch society and its added value. The vision of MA is to make the cultural and religious heritage of Dutch Muslims a natural part of the Netherlands. In doing so, Muslim Archief shares a sense of home and a shared future that is inclusive and resilient. The (MA) is a collection point. It is a (digital) archive of the cultural and religious heritage of Dutch Muslims. ‘Cultural and religious heritage of Dutch Muslims’ is broadly interpreted as all heritage of Dutch people who identify themselves as Muslim. 

The working group of the Netherlands Muslim Archives (NMA), together with its constituency—the diverse Dutch Muslim communities—and expert parties from the cultural and academic worlds, is investigating what has priority to be collected. Work began by mapping out what has already been collected and how it can be given more attention and safeguarded better.
