The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters hosted this morning the inauguration ceremony of the third edition of the Erasmus Mundus programme “ReD Global – Religious Diversity in a Globalised World” Winter School. The programme brings together students to examine religious identities and their impact on global society through a range of academic disciplines.

The University of Sharjah hosted an insightful international talk on rethinking cultural exchange between East and West that upended conventional tales of scientific progress.

The Sharjah International Foundation for the History of Arab and Muslim Sciences (SIFHAMS) hosted Prof. Lautaro Roig Lanzilotta from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands who delivered a talk titled “Rethinking East–West Cultural Exchanges: Knowledge Transfer and Knowledge Migration in Ancient Cosmology” to a packed audience of researchers, academics, students and enthusiasts drawn to the sweeping history of scientific thought.

At the Red Global conference on Religious Diversity and Globalisation, held at Coimbra University in Portugal, the 4th oldest university in Europe (1290), Prof. Lautaro Roig Lanzillotta offered a sweeping reflection on the legacy of John Locke’s 1689 “Letter Concerning Toleration,” arguing that its core principles remain profoundly relevant in a world marked by religious tensions, political polarisation and new forms of ideological conflict.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi , the Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the Center for Arab Studies at the prestigious University of Coimbra in Portugal. This historic initiative, the first of its kind in Portugal, is dedicated to teaching Arabic language and culture and is based on one of Europe’s oldest and most renowned academic institutions.

Profesor Ayudante Doctor. Angelo Puccia With a PhD in Economics on the impact of European funds on Southern European countries, Angelo Puccia has developed his academic career in research related to marketing, internationalization, and entrepreneurship.

He has participated in more than 50 projects on different continents, supporting public institutions and private companies in their international development.

Angelo Puccia is a member of the ReD Global programme at the Universidade de Cordoba in Spain.

Dr. Andrea De Vita, ReD Global Director of Studies at USAL University in Buenos Aires, was highlighted in Infobae news in Argentina.

De Vita showcased the ReD Global program, emphasising its success in offering a stimulating and challenging academic experience.

The program aims to equip students with specialised knowledge of religious movements and identities, illustrating how these phenomena intertwine with diverse social, cultural, political, and economic landscapes throughout history.
