The ReD Global project started as an academic initiative with the ambition to foster diversity, inclusion, and cultural coexistence through knowledge and religious literacy.
Guided by the conviction that enlightenment is a powerful antidote to prejudice and discrimination, the ReD Global team submitted a proposal to the European Commission for funding under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) framework. The proposed programme was titled “Religious Diversity in a Globalised World.”
The ReD Global academic programme was successfully launched as an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree, in collaboration with the Universities of Groningen (the Netherlands), Córdoba (Spain), and Coimbra (Portugal).
The first cohort of students joined the programme, embarking on a uniquely structured curriculum designed to reflect diverse interests within the study of religion. This two-year master’s degree offers students the choice between an academic research track and a professional track. Both tracks provide rigorous training in research methodologies and critical analysis of religion-related themes, culminating in a master’s thesis that marks the completion of their academic journey.
The ReD Global team has brought ideas together to a new milestone. Following the ambition to foster diversity, inclusion, and coexistence, ReD Global now extends its project to enlarge its social outreach and impact by bringing together social actors and academic institutions.
These efforts culminated in the launch of the ReD Global Platform, a new space that brings together diverse actors committed to fostering inclusive societies. Guided by a commitment to religious knowledge and literacy, ReD Global seeks to advance understanding of the role of religion in shaping contemporary realities.
